MEET TEAM MARCOM
IT NEWS BLOG

The Meet OU IT series of the IT News Blog was developed by MarCom student interns to introduce campus to the many faces and talents of OU IT
by providing a platform for sharing the unique stories of the individuals behind the scenes while keeping campus abreast of the exciting collaborative
projects and campus initiatives underway. As the largest organizations on campus, IT employess over 500 employees spanning the campus network.
As such, MarCom interns collaborate throughout each semester to coordinate interviews with full-time and student employees from various teams
within IT and write blog features introducing team members with a bit about what they do for IT and the OU community. This particular blog article
features the IT MarCom team with a bit about us and what we do. | https://itnews.ou.edu/meet_team_marcom

ART DIRECTION

STUDENT INTERN PROJECTS

Provided Art Direction on visual communications for social media campaign and contest, which was developed by IT MarCom student interns to effectively reach, communicate and connect with students by driving engagement with the IT brand in a fun, interactive, and relatable way. The overall goal was to inform and prepare campus for the transition from D2L Learning Management System to Canvas Learning Management Platform, with full implementation official on 6/2.

INTRODUCING WIFI@OU

Designed Visual Communications to introduce campus to a new and improved OU WiFi network. To assist with the transition, we implemented an early communication plan by regularly sharing branded support articles, useful resources, and helpful contact information through various communication channels, including social media, IT News Blog, Mailchimp emails, handouts, and digital signage | 2018

TECH TAXI

IT MarCom student interns developed the concept of Tech Taxi in 2016, which is an IT golf cart shuttle service led by MarCom interns to engage students with the IT brand and IT services while offering lifts to class. IT News Blog Excerpt: “The response has been overwhelmingly positive, so the students continue thinking of new ways to use it. We’ve partnered with OU Summer Session as they serve free snow cones on the South Oval. We’ve handed out VIP passes to concerts. We’ve helped people escape the summer heat. We even won an award! But mostly we’ve created an opportunity to connect with the campus community and share our excitement for OU IT.”

IT ON THE STREETS CAMPAIGN

Provided Art Direction on campaign branding and visual communications for the IT On The Streets social media campaign. As an extension of Tech Taxi and inspired by Cash Cab, the popular mobile trivia series, the “IT on the Streets” social media campaign was developed by the MarCom Student Intern Team in 2018 to drive overall student engagement with the IT brand and inform students about the ITservices tech resources available. As incentive to wave down the Tech Taxi for a ride to class, students were offered the chance to win an Amazon Dot by answering a series of questions related to IT services and tech resources, which were posted on social media before we hit the streets.

SECURE SOONER IDENTITY

Provided Art Direction as student design interns developed a branded visual identity system for the Canvas course modules and promotion of Secure Sooner, a new cyber-security training course available to all students of the University of Oklahoma on Canvas, OU’s primary learning management system. This course was designed by student interns from the IT Security team to help other students develop cyber-security habits that will protect them during their time at OU, and beyond. MarCom design interns worked directly with the Security team to develop and implement a branded communication plan to promote the course, which was officially launched on Data Privacy Day 2019.
